 Prasiolite (also known as green quartz, green amethyst, or vermarin) is a green quartz variety, a silicate mineral, chemically silica.
 Green quartz is sometimes incorrectly called green amethyst, which is not the material's acceptable name, the correct terminology is prasiolite. Calling prasiolite "green amethyst" contradicts the guidelines of the Federal Trade Commission. Other names for green quartz are vermarin, green amethyst or lime lemon.
 Natural prasiolite is very light, transparent green. Darker green quartz is usually the result of artificial processing.
