Ammonites are an ancient subclass of cephalopods that is now completely extinct.
Of particular value is the so-called pyritated ammonite, a shiny stone spilled with a mineral called "pyrite" (better known as "sulfur pyrite" and "iron pyrite").
There were many powerful gods in ancient Egypt. One of them was Ammon, the ruler of all life in the area. Most often he is compared to Zeus, who was similar in appearance to him. However, the main difference between the gods was their horns. Ammon had a twisted form, but Zeus had a straight form. Therefore, ammonite is a spiral shell that was named after the thunder of Egypt.
